Springfield Parish welcomed the Relics of St. Therese and her Parents
February 7 was a very memorable day for Springfield Parish. That day we welcomed the Relics of St Therese and her Parents into our parish church and kept it with us from mid-day to 9pm. Personally, I was overwhelmed when we welcomed the relics and had hours of adoration there.
I was invited to give a talk on the life of St Therese to the parish school children in the afternoon and to the parishioners in the evening. It was an honour for me to repeatedly share the story of a great Saint. I was actually nervous as I did not know what I should share with the students but then she (St Therese) was there to remind me to trust in God. With my limited knowledge of her life story and her spirituality, I served as Christ’s instrument to introduce her on that day. I could sense how God’s grace was at work.
On that day, I only felt the Spirit of God blowing over me and moving around me. Yes, even later on, week after week, many parishioners and children reminded me of what I had said and how some of them had come to choose St. Therese as a patron Saint. They explained that they had chosen to read about her life, to follow her examples of doing little acts of love, the simple way to holiness, family prayers or become more conscious of their call to mission. “All glory and honour belong to you O Lord!” I prayed and praised Him for choosing me as His handmaid.
